DeciGenArch

DeciGenArch is part of ongoing research work in Generative engineering presented at the European conference on Computer aided design in Architecture at KU Leuven in Belgium Abstract:Our approach to Generative Design converts the problems of design from the geometrical drawing of shapes in a continuous setting to topological decision making about spatial configurations in a discrete setting. The paper presents a comprehensive formulation of the zoning problem as a sub-problem of architectural 3D layout configurations.

GEN-ARCH

The construction industry globally is expanding rapidly. In the Netherlands itself, there is a need for the construction of 1 million affordable new homes by 2030. Such a massive demand for new buildings calls for a solution for mass customization of Architectural configurations. Simple repetition can lead to a badly configured building which is not ideal and can lead to a lot of social and environmental problems.

GEN-ARCH offers a solution to this problem by utilizing the power of Generative design and Human-centered Artificial intelligence in design by means of an Open configuration platform. The platform can be used to develop architectural configurations for Open buildings which is inherently a participatory, customizable, and a sustainable design concept. It also offers the opportunity for the future occupants of these buildings to participate in the design and decision-making process, thus democratizing the entire architectural design process for these mass customized buildings.
